Responsibilities

- Mountain driving expertise
- Professionalism in customer service
- Drive lighter, special purpose trucks
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Perform brake adjustments
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Transport and handle dangerous goods

Drive trucks on international long-haul routes, including mountain routes, and transport cargo safely, including dangerous goods. Inspect and maintain vehicles, secure cargo, obtain required transport documents, communicate with dispatch, and record cargo, hours, distance, and fuel information.
Requirements
A secondary school graduation certificate and a Class 1 or Class A driver's licence with an air brakes endorsement are specified. No prior experience is required, as training will be provided; applicants must also have a valid passport and pass the stated driving and security checks.
