Role Description The Excavator Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Lloydminster, AB. The individual in this role will safely operate excavators and other heavy equipment to complete excavation, trenching, and material handling tasks as part of industrial and civil construction projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include reading and following site plans, digging and backfilling trenches, grading, loading and moving materials, and assisting with pipeline and facility-related work. The Excavator Operator will perform basic equipment inspections, routine maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues to supervisors. This role also involves adhering to all safety procedures, working effectively with site supervisors and crew members, and adapting to changing site conditions and project requirements.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in equipment operation and heavy equipment handling, particularly excavators.
- Experience with excavation and trench work in industrial, civil, or pipeline construction environments.
- Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and daily inspections to ensure safe operation.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and regulatory requirements.
- Valid equipment operator certifications or tickets as required in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
- Previous experience in energy, mining, pipeline, or industrial construction sectors is an asset.
- Ability to read and follow site drawings, instructions, and work plans accurately.
- Reliable work ethic, ability to work in varying weather and terrain conditions, and willingness to work extended or flexible hours as projects require.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with supervisors and crew members.
