MA

Real cultural center in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Museum of Arts contributes to the vitality of the city. Based in the city-center of Rouyn-Noranda since 2012, il offers exhibition spaces and participates to the development of visual arts. Through its educative programs, it contributes to the appreciation of arts by school and community audiences just as the population in general. The MA keeps privileged relations with the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue and the Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue through exhibition projects and research. It also has relations with multiple cultural and community organizations for events such as poetry, theatre, concerts etc. Sensitive to the reality of the First Nations living on the territory, the MA maintain special ties with artists whose originality marks the cultural richness of Anishinabe, Crie and Attikamek. Finally, thanks to a starting collection, the museum fixes in the collectif imaginary a singular and strong Nordic identity.
