About the opportunity
Mainfreight Toronto is looking for a hands-on, organized teammate who is equally comfortable working on the warehouse floor and using a computer.
This role combines cargo receiving, picking and packing, container loading, and dock support with customer service and export coordination. You will be a single point of contact for assigned export consolidation customers, helping manage their cargo from booking through loading and shipment.
You bring the warehouse experience, forklift skills, and confidence with computers. We will teach you the ocean export process. Previous freight forwarding experience is not required.
What you will do
* Receive cargo, check quantities and condition, and record any discrepancies or damage.
* Pick, pack, label, palletize, and stage orders accurately according to customer instructions.
* Operate forklifts and other authorized material-handling equipment safely.
* Load and unload containers and trailers, supporting safe cargo placement and securing procedures.
* Keep warehouse locations, inventory records, and cargo movements accurate and up to date.
* Handle customer bookings, enquiries, and shipment updates by email and telephone.
* Coordinate cargo readiness, receiving appointments, collection arrangements, and loading schedules.
* Enter bookings and shipment information into our systems and maintain accurate records.
* Learn to prepare and check export documentation, packing lists, and loading records.
* Work closely with export operations and warehouse teammates to meet shipment deadlines.
* Complete equipment checks and maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
What you bring
* Previous hands-on warehousing experience, including order picking and packing.
* Practical forklift operating experience.
* Current forklift operator training certification or documented training and practical assessment for counterbalance forklifts.
* Willingness to complete Mainfreight’s equipment-specific and workplace-specific training and competency assessment before operating equipment independently.
* Strong computer skills, including email, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and accurate data entry.
* Confidence learning warehouse and freight management systems.
* Clear written and verbal communication and a professional approach to customer service.
* Strong attention to detail when checking orders, cargo, inventory, and documentation.
* The ability to organize your workload and move between warehouse duties and customer service tasks.
* The ability to perform the physical duties of the role safely, with reasonable accommodation where required.
* Reliability, initiative, and a willingness to take ownership and help your teammates.
Additional assets
* Container or trailer loading experience.
* Experience with warehouse management systems and barcode scanners.
* Reach truck or powered pallet truck training and operating experience, where relevant to the equipment used.
* Previous customer service, shipping and receiving, or logistics administration experience.
Training and development
We will provide training in ocean export bookings, consolidation processes, documentation, shipment coordination, and Mainfreight systems.

Responsibilities

Requirements
Candidates need hands-on warehousing and order-picking experience, practical forklift experience, and current forklift training certification or documented training and assessment for counterbalance forklifts.
