Role Description The Intermediate Mechanical Piping Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Woodbridge, ON. This role involves preparing mechanical piping layouts and drawings using CAD tools, coordinating with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to ensure designs meet project specifications, codes, and safety standards. The designer will review and interpret mechanical, structural, and architectural drawings, perform basic calculations for piping systems, and assist in selecting materials and components appropriate for mechanical installations. Day-to-day responsibilities include updating drawings to reflect field changes, supporting installation crews with clear and accurate documentation, participating in design reviews, and assisting with inspections and quality checks. The role also involves collaborating with other disciplines, maintaining organized project files, and contributing to continuous improvement of design practices and standards.
Qualifications
- Strong Mechanical Engineering knowledge related to piping systems, HVAC, and general building services.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for mechanical and piping layouts and detail drawings.
- Experience with Inspection and quality control of mechanical and piping installations.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience (typically 3+ years) in mechanical or piping design within construction or industrial environments.
- Understanding of relevant codes, standards, and best practices for mechanical and piping systems.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and solid problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams on-site.
