Financial Controller - Mandy’s | Montréal (hybrid)
Mandy’s started with a simple idea: salad should be something you look forward to. We make wholesome, fresh and flavourful food and serve it in spaces built for all five senses - bright, buzzing, personal and welcoming from the moment you walk in. Behind that is a young, fast-moving company with a culture that runs on energy, innovation and the belief that we’re better together. We treat our guests like VIPs, and we care about the impact we have on our communities and the planet. If you value collaboration, healthy living and making a positive difference for people and the environment, you’ll feel at home here.
Today that idea powers 17 restaurants across Québec, Ontario and British Columbia, with Alberta opening soon. Every one of them runs on five values - Community, Joy, Creativity, Excellence & Care - and it takes a strong financial foundation to keep that promise as we grow.
That’s where you come in! We’re looking for a Financial Controller to be the financial conscience and operational backbone of Mandy’s: someone who brings Excellence to the numbers, Care to the team and the people who depend on them, and a bit of Creativity to how finance supports a fast-growing restaurant business.
The role
Reporting to the VP, Finance, you’ll lead a team of two across accounts payable and payroll, own the integrity of our financial reporting and controls, and help steer the business through a period of real growth and transformation. You combine a mastery of the numbers with a deep understanding of what drives a multi-unit restaurant business - and you’re as comfortable explaining results to a GM as you are closing the books.
What you’ll own
- Month-end close, including sales and balance sheet reconciliations, and timely, accurate reporting to senior leadership
- Statutory reporting, tax compliance and the annual external review engagement
- The general ledger, chart of accounts and reporting systems, plus the finance tech stack (POS, payroll, expense management)
- Internal controls, accounting policies and process-improvement initiatives that scale with the business
- Banking relationships, day-to-day cash management and the Finance department budget
- Leading, coaching and developing your team, and supporting department leaders in interpreting their results
What you bring to the table
- CPA designation (or legacy CA, CGA, CMA) and a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in retail or consumer services, including 3+ years leading a team
- In-depth knowledge of ASPE and hands-on experience implementing accounting standards and policies
- Proficiency in Sage, Office 365 and other accounting software
- Fully bilingual in French and English
- Sharp analytical skills, a collaborative leadership style and sound judgment balancing risk and opportunity
Why Mandy’s
You’ll join a brand that’s scaling from a Montréal original to a national name without losing what made it special, and you’ll have genuine ownership over how the finance foundation gets built. Hybrid schedule based out of our Montréal head office, close to the kitchens, the teams and the salads.
