Company Description Maskwacis Education Schools Commission (MESC) is the education authority for the Maskwacîs Cree and is owned and operated by Ermineskin Cree Nation, Louis Bull Tribe, Montana First Nation, and Samson Cree Nation. The head office is located in Maskwacis, approximately 70 km south of Edmonton, AB, within Treaty No. 6 territory. MESC delivers Indigenized curriculum across nine Maskwacîs schools, embedding Cree culture, language, and traditions in daily learning. The organization emphasizes Îyinîw Mâmitonehicikan, Nehiyawewin, Nehiyaw Pimâtisôwin, and Wâhkôhtowin, supporting holistic education grounded in Cree worldviews. Role Description The Health and Wellness Admin Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Hobbema, AB, supporting the health and wellness initiatives within MESC schools. This role coordinates daily administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, organizing meetings, maintaining records, and preparing reports for health and wellness programs. The position manages phone calls and email communications, responds to inquiries from staff, students, families, and community partners, and directs information to appropriate team members. The Health and Wellness Admin Assistant assists with clerical duties including data entry, filing, document preparation, and tracking program activities and supplies. This role works closely with health and wellness staff to support events, workshops, and outreach activities that promote student and community well-being.
Qualifications
- Strong Administrative Assistance and Clerical Skills to manage scheduling, record keeping, document preparation, and data entry.
- Professional Phone Etiquette and Communication skills to handle inquiries, share information clearly, and support respectful interactions.
- Experience providing Executive Administrative Assistance or supporting managers, teams, or program leads in an office environment.
- Proficiency with office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, email, databases) and the ability to learn new digital tools.
- Organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and capacity to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, maintain confidentiality, and uphold trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, Cree culture, language, and community contexts to support MESC’s vision.
- Previous experience in education, health, wellness, or community services is an asset; relevant certificate or diploma in office administration or a related field is preferred.
