The Opportunity:
The Security Shift Supervisor serves as the primary Global Security point of contact for an assigned shift within a 24/7 operation. This role leads and supports Security Officers, coordinates daily shift activities, ensures compliance with post orders, standard operating procedures, contingency plans, and Mattel Global Security Best Practices, and completes special assignments as directed by the Security Manager. The supervisor also performs standard Security Officer duties when operationally required and helps maintain a safe, secure, professional, and customer-focused environment for Mattel employees, visitors, contractors, and business partners.

What Your Impact Will Be:
Shift Leadership and Team Management
- Serve as the on-shift security lead and primary escalation point for security, safety, and operational issues.
- Coordinate officer post assignments, patrol responsibilities, break coverage, and response priorities in accordance with approved post orders and business needs.
- Conduct shift briefings and ensure critical information, open issues, and follow-up actions are communicated accurately between shifts.
- Train, coach, and direct Security Officers; conduct regular touchpoints and support performance evaluations, corrective action, and development activities in coordination with the Security Manager and People & Culture.
- Support scheduling, payroll, and timekeeping administration for the assigned team, as directed by the Security Manager.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, professional conduct, and consistent customer service across the security operation.
Security Operations and Emergency Response
- Protect Mattel personnel, visitors, physical property, assets, intellectual property, privacy, and confidential information from theft, damage, harm, unauthorized access, and unlawful activity.
- Ensure compliance with Mattel Global Security Best Practices, site procedures, contingency plans, and U.S. Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) recommendations, where applicable.
- Respond to alarms, security incidents, fires, medical and first-aid events, and other emergencies; initiate notifications and coordinate with the Security Manager, Facilities, EHSS, emergency services, or law enforcement as required.
- Conduct mobile and foot patrols and direct officers in identifying, documenting, and escalating security, safety, and facilities-related concerns.
- Support traffic control, visitor registration, and the safe processing and direction of suppliers, contractors, delivery personnel, and other site guests.
- Perform Security Officer duties and fixed-post assignments when needed to maintain required staffing and operational continuity.
Systems, Compliance, and Reporting
- Monitor and operate access control, CCTV, guard tour management, alarm, and fire control systems in accordance with site procedures.
- Escalate system failures, equipment issues, and maintenance needs to the appropriate Security Systems, Facilities, or technical support personnel.
- Complete and review incident reports, shift logs, electronic audits, administrative records, and other required documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
- Perform administrative data-entry responsibilities associated with guardhouse, employee entrance, building entrance, rover patrol, satellite site patrol, and other post-order requirements.
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, training requirements, and regulatory obligations, and ensure assigned personnel remain current on required training.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work closely with Facilities, EHSS, People & Culture, IT, business leaders, event teams, and other departments to support a safe and orderly workplace.
- Support special events, projects, investigations, audits, and other assignments as directed by the Security Manager.
- Communicate professionally and confidentially with employees, visitors, vendors, emergency responders, and leaders at all levels of the organization.

Qualifications And Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least one year of experience in security, asset protection, loss prevention, law enforcement, military service, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience leading, coaching, or supervising personnel preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Valid security license or guard card where required by applicable law or regulation.
- First Aid, CPR, and Blood-borne Pathogens certification, or the ability to obtain required certification through company-provided training.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear incident reports, business correspondence, and procedures, and to read and interpret policies, technical procedures, training materials, and governmental regulations.
- Working knowledge of CCTV, access control, alarm monitoring, and other physical security programs and equipment.
- Basic math skills and the ability to maintain accurate administrative records.
Schedule And Physical Requirements
- Ability to work assigned first, second, or third shift and rotate shifts based on business needs.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime, including on short notice, as required.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform mobile and foot patrols.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required to perform essential duties.
- Ability to work outdoor posts and tolerate heat, humidity, cold, rain, wind, snow, or other severe weather conditions, as applicable to the site.
- Ability to use handheld radios, access control systems, CCTV systems, handheld and walk-through metal detectors, and other assigned security equipment.
- Ability to attend and successfully complete all mandatory training required to maintain job competence and support professional development.
