Role Description The Commercial Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Mississauga, ON, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. This role is responsible for overseeing the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects, including vendor and subcontractor management, project cost control, contract negotiation, and risk management. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and reviewing budgets, forecasts, managing contracts and change orders; supporting project teams with commercial guidance; and monitoring financial performance against targets. The Commercial Manager collaborates closely with project managers, estimators, and senior leadership to ensure projects are delivered profitably, on schedule, and in compliance with contractual obligations. The role also involves building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, while continuously improving commercial processes and practices.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Commercial Management and Contract Management skills, including experience with construction contracts, change management, and risk mitigation.
- Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills and Business Planning capabilities to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, and to support data-driven decision-making.
- Candidates should possess effective Team Management skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional project teams and support a positive, accountable work environment.
- Experience in the construction or ICI sector, particularly with industrial, pharmaceutical, or institutional projects, is highly beneficial.
- Post-secondary education in business, construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with proficiency in project management and financial software.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, as well as the ability to work in a hybrid setting with occasional travel to project sites, are important.
