Electronics Assembly Technician - Soldering & QC

About the role
Maxtech Electronics is looking for a hands-on Electronics Assembly Technician to support our PCB assembly and quality control team. The role focuses on through-hole soldering, inspecting assembled boards, and completing rework to ensure consistent quality.
Responsibilities
- Hand solder through-hole components onto printed circuit boards.
- Perform basic surface-mount soldering, component replacement, and rework as required.
- Follow assembly drawings, bills of materials, and work instructions.
- Check component values, placement, polarity, and orientation.
- Inspect solder joints and completed assemblies using magnification or a microscope.
- Identify defects such as solder bridges, cold joints, insufficient solder, missing components, and damaged parts.
- Complete repairs and flag issues requiring further review.
- Support basic testing, board cleaning, final assembly, and packaging.
- Record QC results and communicate issues to the production team.
- Follow ESD procedures, safe work practices, and established quality requirements.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with PCB hand soldering, particularly through-hole assemblies.
- Ability to produce clean, consistent solder joints and recognize common assembly defects.
- Ability to follow written instructions and identify electronic components.
- Strong attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and comfort with repetitive precision work.
- Reliability and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred experience
- PCB inspection or quality control in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
- Experience with surface-mount rework and basic electrical testing.
- IPC certification is an asset.
