As we continue to grow our Acheson operation, we are looking for an experienced, motivated salesperson to join our team.
The Position
We are looking for a Lumber & Remanufacturing Sales Representative who understands relationship-based selling and enjoys working in a fast-moving, competitive industry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, generating new business and selling a combination of wholesale lumber products and remanufactured lumber products.
This is a hands-on sales position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable picking up the phone, calling customers, finding opportunities, quoting business and following an order through from the initial conversation to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
- Prospect for and develop new customers and sales opportunities throughout Alberta and Western Canada.
- Sell wholesale lumber, building material and remanufactured lumber products.
- Regularly communicate product availability, pricing and market opportunities to customers.
- Prepare quotes and negotiate pricing, volumes and delivery requirements.
- Work closely with purchasing, operations, production and transportation to ensure customer commitments are met.
- Develop an understanding of customer buying patterns, inventory requirements and product needs.
- Identify opportunities for custom remanufacturing and value-added lumber products.
- Follow lumber market conditions, pricing trends and product availability.
- Maintain regular contact with customers rather than simply waiting for orders.
- Follow up on quotations, open orders and potential sales opportunities.
- Help resolve customer service, quality or delivery issues quickly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate customer, pricing and sales information.
- Contribute to sales budgets, targets and overall company growth.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of sales experience is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in lumber, building materials, forestry products, construction materials or wholesale distribution is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of lumber products, grades, dimensions and terminology is an asset.
- Experience with lumber remanufacturing or value-added wood products would be beneficial.
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable making outbound sales calls and developing new business.
- Self-motivated and able to manage a customer base with limited supervision.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, market-driven environment.
- Basic computer skills and experience working with sales/order-entry systems.
- Valid driver's license.
