How can you make an impact?
As an
Associate Portfolio Manager at
McGraw Hill Higher Education, you will
drive the Canadian product strategy for course materials across your assigned portfolios. You will develop and deliver portfolio roadmaps that meet market needs and align with commercial and strategic priorities.
This is a portfolio and content-focused role where you will work across digital assets and learning platforms while acquiring and managing authors and subject matter experts. You will partner with content production, marketing, sales, customer support, and portfolio leadership to use market and performance insights to inform decisions and move portfolio priorities forward.
This is a Toronto-based hybrid role, with one day per week onsite at 145 King Street West. Occasional travel within Canada and the U.S. maybe required for customer events, team meetings, and the annual sales meeting.
What can you expect from the position?
- Produce agreed-upon portfolio roadmaps for the Canadian higher education market, that outline the short-mid- and long-term portfolio vision and priorities, and maintain visibility throughout the business.
- Manage approximately 15-20 product revisions at a time in various stages of completion and scope.
- Own author and subject matter expert relationships, including compensation and contract negotiations, succession planning, and release planning.
- Acquire and manage new authors and subject matter experts who will create and deliver innovative products to support the strategic portfolio plan.
- Drive growth through sound financial/P&L decisions, efficient resource allocation, and strong execution.
- Analyze financial, usage, and/or research data to understand market trends and product performance to create data-informed decisions.
- Develop creative new ways to use McGraw Hill’s content, platforms and authoring tools to fuel growth.
- Run customer-facing activities to ensure products are developed and launched in accordance with pedagogical requirements of the markets.
What you’ll bring to the role?
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- 3–5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in EdTech and/or educational publishing, with a track record of successfully executing large projects.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a self-driven, entrepreneurial approach.
- Curiosity about content, education, and technology including AI.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with authors, customers, and cross-functional partners; customer-facing experience is a plus.
- Strong commercial and business acumen, using data to understand how product and resource decisions affect portfolio performance and P&L.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite one day per week and travel occasionally within Canada and the U.S.

The pay range for this position is between $70,000 - $75,000 CAD annually. However, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. A full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
