About the Firm
Meshkini Law Partners LLP is a boutique litigation and alternative dispute resolution firm based in North York. Our practice spans personal injury, accident benefits, construction disputes, and Provincial Offences Act matters, alongside a growing neutral ADR practice in mediation and arbitration. We work on complex, hands-on files where every team member contributes meaningfully to strategy and outcomes.
The Role
We are seeking a Junior Law Clerk with 0–2 years of Ontario civil litigation experience to join our team. Recent graduates of an accredited law clerk diploma program are encouraged to apply. This is a full-time, in-office position with direct mentorship from the principal and our intermediate clerk.
This role is designed as a foundation: you will learn Ontario civil procedure end-to-end, build skills across multiple practice areas, and grow into independent file management. We are looking for someone who is curious, careful, and eager to develop a long-term career as a litigation clerk.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft routine correspondence, simple pleadings, affidavits, and form documents under lawyer or senior clerk supervision
- Organize and maintain litigation files, both physical and electronic, in accordance with firm protocols
- Diarize limitation periods, court deadlines, and tickler dates; maintain accurate file calendars
- Conduct corporate searches, title searches, PPSA searches, and basic skip tracing
- Prepare and serve court documents and tribunal filings (Superior Court, Small Claims, LAT, OCJ)
- Upload and maintain documents on CaseLines and Justice Services Online
- Assist senior clerks with documentary productions, motion records, and mediation briefs
- Support accident benefits files: prepare OCF forms, track treatment plans, assemble document briefs
- Support POA files: prepare disclosure requests, organize Crown brief materials, schedule trial dates
- Liaise courteously and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and tribunals
- Assist with file opening, conflict checks, time entry, and general administrative support
Required Qualifications
- Law Clerk diploma from an accredited Ontario college (completed or in final term), or equivalent legal education
- 0–2 years of experience in an Ontario law firm or legal support role (co-op, summer, or contract experience counts)
- Foundational knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Professional demeanour and strong client service orientation
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and ask questions
- Eligible to work in Canada
Preferred (Not Required)
- Student Member status with the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario (ILCO), or intention to pursue Associate Membership
- Co-op or placement experience at a litigation firm
- Familiarity with CaseLines, Justice Services Online, or PCLaw/Clio
- Exposure to personal injury, accident benefits, construction, or POA matters
- Bilingual (English/French or English/Farsi) is an asset
What We Offer
- Competitive starting salary commensurate with experience
- Paid vacation and personal days
- Direct mentorship from the principal and intermediate clerk - substantive learning, not just task work
- Exposure to a broad range of practice areas (PI, AB, construction, POA, ADR) within your first year
- Modern, transit-accessible office at Yonge & Finch (TTC subway, Highway 401)
- A collegial, low-bureaucracy environment where good work is recognized
