The E-commerce Manager is responsible for the growth, profitability, and day-to-day execution of our Canadian e-commerce business across Amazon Vendor Central, third-party marketplaces, and direct-to-consumer (DTC) channels.
This role translates commercial objectives into channel plans and coordinates their execution with local Sales, Product Management, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Service teams, as well as the headquarters OEC team. The manager is accountable for sales and margin performance, forecasting, promotional planning, product availability, and channel execution, with Amazon Vendor Central as a core responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Planning & Performance Management
- Develop and execute annual and quarterly e-commerce plans across Amazon, marketplaces, and DTC, including sales targets, product assortment, pricing, promotions, and channel investments.
- Own channel sales and margin targets, and track advertising, promotional funding, platform fees, returns, and other channel costs in partnership with Finance.
- Prepare and maintain sales forecasts with Sales, Product Management, Operations, and the headquarters operation team; identify risks and opportunities and drive corrective actions.
- Lead regular business reviews and translate performance insights into clear actions, owners, and timelines.
2. Amazon Vendor Business Management
- End-to-End Vendor Central Operations: Oversee the complete Amazon Vendor relationship, including purchase orders (POs), shipments, dispute management for chargebacks, and inventory health metrics (maintaining healthy in-stock rates while mitigating excess and aged inventory).
- Revenue, Forecast, & Budget Control: Drive revenue and profitability by aligning incoming PO fulfillment with planned demand forecasts, and strictly managing budgets for advertising and promotional funding expenses.
- Paid Advertising Strategy: Plan and manage Amazon advertising investments in partnership with Marketing, the headquarters ecommerce operation team, and external agencies, as applicable. Monitor campaign performance and optimize spend against sales, profitability, ROAS, and ACOS objectives.
- Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration: Partner closely with overseas HQ e-commerce teams and local departments - including logistics, finance, marketing, and after-sales - to ensure seamless, synchronized daily operations.
3. Marketplace Daily Operation Management
- Lead day-to-day operations across alternative marketplaces (e.g., Walmart, Best Buy) to maintain optimal storefront performance, listing health, and high consumer satisfaction.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) - such as conversion rates, order defect rates, and customer feedback - to ensure high seller ratings and compliance.
- Coordinate with overseas HQ e-commerce teams and local departments to synchronize new product launches, seasonal promotions, and flash sales across all marketplace platforms.
- Collaborate closely with Marketplace Account Managers to proactively troubleshoot and resolve operational roadblocks, policy issues, or escalated cases.
4. DTC Operation & Growth
- Manage the daily operations, merchandising, and user experience of our direct-to-consumer website(s) to optimize the customer journey from discovery to checkout.
- Partner with the digital marketing team to execute acquisition and retention strategies, including paid social, email marketing, SMS marketing, and SEO.
- Analyze web traffic, conversion funnels, and customer behavior using tools like Google Analytics to identify friction points and execute conversion rate optimization (CRO) tests.
- Oversee Shopify (or relevant e-commerce platform) backend operations, app integrations, and site performance enhancements.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant e-commerce experience, including substantial hands-on experience managing Amazon Vendor Central and demonstrated responsibility for sales and commercial performance.
- Channel Knowledge: Experience with Canadian retailer marketplaces and/or DTC operations; experience across all three channels is an asset.
- Commercial & Financial Skills: Strong understanding of pricing, margins, promotional funding, advertising efficiency, inventory performance, and channel profitability.
- Operational Expertise: Proven ability to manage forecasts, purchase orders, product availability, deductions, and cross-functional execution.
- Analytics: Advanced Excel skills and the ability to turn platform and business data into actionable insights. Experience with Power BI and web analytics tools is an asset.
