Studio · One or more roles
Moonshots creates ventures with researchers who have already built a technology or prototype at a leading university. We are looking for one or more research co-founders to form a studio company around self-healing asphalt - materials that extend pavement service life through bio-inspired repair.
The opportunity
You would join as a research co-founder and Researcher in Residence. We create the venture around your work, pair you with operators and capital, and help take the technology toward real-world use with road agencies and asphalt producers. Intellectual property is only transferred once a company is successfully funded. If the venture does not raise, the IP reverts to the researcher with no strings attached.
We intend to support this work through Mitacs Accelerate’s postdoctoral funding, with Moonshots as the partner organization and your academic supervisor at a Canadian university. That path depends on Mitacs eligibility and approval.
Who this is for
You have already developed a self-healing asphalt, self-healing pavement, or closely related binder or additive technology or prototype. Your background is likely in pavement materials, asphalt chemistry, civil or materials engineering, or a related field, and you want to help found a company, not only continue the research in a lab. We may bring on more than one research co-founder if the work calls for complementary expertise.
How to apply
Email contact@moonshots.ca with the subject “Research Co-Founder - Self-Healing Asphalt,” and tell us about the technology or prototype you have already built.
