About the role
A Vancouver company specializing in industrialized construction, advanced manufacturing, and building technology is hiring a Product Manager & Technologist for its Product & Technology team.
You will lead the development of new building products and systems from concept through design, engineering, manufacturing, and field implementation, working across engineering, architecture, manufacturing, and construction.
Responsibilities
Product development
- Lead new building products and systems from concept through production
- Develop product specifications, technical documentation, and design requirements
- Translate market and customer needs into workable engineering solutions
- Improve product performance, manufacturability, cost, and scalability
Design and engineering
- Produce conceptual designs and detailed engineering solutions
- Prepare technical specifications, material selections, cost estimates, and construction documentation
- Manage prototyping, testing, and implementation
- Contribute to proprietary products and intellectual property
- Ensure compliance with building codes and engineering standards
Technical leadership
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, manufacturing partners, and contractors
- Coordinate third-party engineers, architects, and specialists
- Lead design reviews and provide technical direction
- Support site activities and field reviews
- Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and budgeting
Manufacturing and industrialization
- Work with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes
- Evaluate materials, fabrication methods, and assembly techniques
- Apply design for manufacturing (DFM) principles
Qualifications
Required
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Technology, or related discipline
- Professional registration (P.Eng., Registered Architect, or equivalent) with authority to seal designs
- Minimum 10 years in product development, engineering, architecture, or construction
- Experience leading multidisciplinary product development
- Strong knowledge of building science, building systems, and modern construction methods
- Proficiency with BIM, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp
- Experience preparing technical specifications and construction documentation
Preferred
- Industrialized construction, modular construction, or prefabrication
- Structural steel design and integrated building systems
- Advanced manufacturing and product engineering
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
- Prototype development and R&D
