Role Description The Shift Lead is a full-time, on-site role based at Mr. & Mrs. Bao in London, ON. This role oversees daily shift operations, ensuring food quality, speed of service, and guest satisfaction are consistently maintained. Responsibilities include supervising team members during shifts, delegating tasks, supporting training, and helping resolve issues as they arise. The Shift Lead monitors cleanliness, safety standards, and stock levels, and assists with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and basic reporting. This role also involves supporting a positive team culture, modeling excellent customer service, and communicating with management about shift performance and operational needs.
Qualifications
- Experience leading or supervising a team in a restaurant, café, or fast-casual environment, with the ability to guide and support team members during busy periods.
- Strong customer service skills, including clear communication, conflict resolution, and a friendly, professional approach to guests.
- Ability to manage shift operations, including task delegation, time management, and maintaining quality and cleanliness standards.
- Basic cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) experience, including handling transactions and reconciling cash at the end of shifts.
- Knowledge of food safety and workplace safety practices, with attention to hygiene, proper handling, and safe work habits.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work full-time, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and organized under pressure.
- Previous experience as a shift lead, supervisor, or keyholder in hospitality or retail is an asset.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light to moderate physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and moving supplies.
