MSCP Heat Management Solutions is seeking an experienced
IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Technician for a
long-term, local position supporting ongoing work at an Edmonton-area refinery.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Level 3 looking for
consistent local work without a camp or rotational schedule. You will provide rope access leadership in the field, ensuring work is properly planned, rigged, supervised, and executed safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
As the
IRATA Level 3 on site, you will:
- Hold and maintain a current IRATA Level 3 certification.
- Lead and supervise daily rope access activities at the refinery.
- Mentor and provide field leadership to IRATA Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.
- Design, establish, inspect, and supervise rope access and rigging systems.
- Select rigging systems that provide efficient access while prioritizing safe egress and rescue.
- Maintain a high level of awareness regarding worker safety, well-being, and changing site conditions.
- Maintain knowledge of current IRATA requirements, guidelines, and safety bulletins, along with applicable MSCP and client procedures.
- Lead rope access components of daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, equipment inspections, and buddy checks.
- Review and sign applicable FLHAs, hazard assessments, and rope access documentation.
- Assign team members to work parties and supervise rigging and safe rope access practices.
- Develop and maintain appropriate rescue plans and be prepared to lead rescue activities if required.
- Support the orientation, mentorship, and ongoing assessment of rope access team members.
- Verify and certify rope access logbooks where applicable and support accurate tracking of rope hours.
- Determine equipment and logistical requirements for upcoming rope access work.
- Ensure rope access equipment is appropriately inspected, maintained, documented, and used only by properly trained personnel.
- Ensure required execution plans, checklists, inspections, and supporting documentation are completed.
- Promote consistent adherence to IRATA, client, and MSCP safety requirements.
- Trade certification in insulation, electrical, or another industrial trade is considered an asset but is not required.
Qualifications
- Current IRATA Level 3 certification – required.
- Demonstrated experience leading and supervising rope access teams.
- Industrial, refinery, oil and gas, or maintenance experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of rope access systems, rigging, rescue planning, and equipment inspection.
- Strong understanding of hazard identification, FLHAs, and field-level risk management.
- Ability to effectively mentor and supervise Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.
- Strong communication and field leadership skills.
