Role Description
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the maintenance team and ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant equipment and systems. This position oversees daily maintenance activities, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives while working closely with Production, Quality, and other departments.
This position supervises maintenance personnel, assigns daily work orders, and ensures tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.
This is a full-time, on-site role - Afternoon Shift (Monday to Friday), based in Woodbridge, ON.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead, supervise, and mentor maintenance technicians by providing direction, technical support, training, and performance feedback.
· Coordinate daily maintenance activities based on production priorities, equipment condition, safety requirements, and available resources.
· Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
· Troubleshoot and support repairs involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, automation, PLC, and control systems.
· Analyze equipment failures and recurring breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
· Ensure all maintenance activities and equipment history are accurately documented in the CMMS, including work orders, inspections, and parts usage.
· Develop and improve preventive maintenance procedures, checklists, and equipment standards.
· Work closely with Production, Quality, and other departments to prioritize maintenance needs and resolve equipment issues.
· Manage spare parts inventory and ensure critical components are available when required.
· Support equipment installations, modifications, commissioning, upgrades, and maintenance-related projects.
· Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, and maintenance processes.
· Ensure maintenance activities comply with company policies, safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and applicable electrical and mechanical standards.
· Train and coach technicians on equipment, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, and safe work practices.
· Prepare maintenance reports and communicate equipment status, major breakdowns, ongoing projects, and priorities to management.
· Support maintenance budgeting, contractor management, spare-parts planning, and cost-control initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
· Post-secondary education in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred.
· Several years of industrial maintenance experience, with previous supervisory or leadership experience.
· Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, automation, PLC, and control systems.
· Experience with CMMS systems and preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
· Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
· Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance activities in a fast-paced production environment.
· Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and team-building skills.
· Knowledge of industrial safety requirements and safe work practices.
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
Working Conditions
· Primarily based in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
· May require working around operating machinery, production equipment, electrical systems, and other industrial hazards.
· May require occasional overtime, weekend work, or after-hours support depending on production and maintenance requirements.
