Position Summary:
As the learning leader responsible for the overall quality of curriculum, teaching and learning, this role leads and manages the Performing Arts department by:
- Ensuring the Learning and Teaching Principles and Practices are at the forefront of the learning environment.
- Ensuring that teaching and learning promote curiosity and the love of the subject
- Developing processes and procedures to ensure that the quality of learning and achievement is monitored, evaluated and shared.
- Using student and cohort data to improve learning and teaching
- Monitoring the quality and consistency of student assessment feedback and reporting
- Ensuring that the PreK-12 curriculum is fully articulated in terms of content, skills and concepts, and accurately recorded
- Directing the team’s focus on the teaching and assessment of ATL skills
- Supporting the performing arts team, including faculty and support staff
- Enriching student learning through appropriate trips and visits, co-curricular activities, and other special events
- Providing guidance and mentorship for new teachers, and ongoing support for other team members
- Fostering and facilitating professional learning opportunities for team members
- Working with the Principal to oversee the annual Teacher Professional Growth Plan (TPGP) for team members
- Managing the departmental budget to ensure resources are used effectively to enhance student learning
- Attending coordinator, strand and divisional planning meetings throughout the year to ensure collaboration with other curriculum leaders
