About the role:
The shipping/receiving position in the non-durable goods manufacturing industry is essential to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of materials and finished products within the supply chain. This role involves managing the receipt, inspection, and proper storage of incoming goods, as well as preparing and organizing outgoing shipments to meet production and customer requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with production, inventory control, and logistics teams to maintain accurate records and timely deliveries. Great attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality standards are crucial to avoid errors and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Ultimately, this role supports operational efficiency and customer satisfaction by ensuring that materials and products are handled correctly and delivered on time.
Minimum requirements:
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment, preferred
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and shipping documentation.
- Ability to safely operate handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in forklift operation or other relevant equipment is helpful.
- Experience with computerized inventory management systems or ERP software is helpful.
- Familiarity with regulations and best practices for shipping non-hazardous goods is helpful.
- Good communication skills to effectively coordinate with internal teams and external carriers.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect incoming deliveries to verify accuracy, quality, and damage, documenting any discrepancies or issues.
- Organize and store materials and products in designated areas to maintain an orderly and accessible inventory.
- Prepare, pack, and label outgoing shipments in accordance with company standards and customer specifications.
- Coordinate with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to plan and prioritize shipments and deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipping and receiving activities, including data entry into inventory management systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements during all shipping and receiving operations.
- Operate handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
- Assist with inventory counts and audits to support accurate stock levels and reporting.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to bend at the knees and waist
- Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time
- Must be able to read proficiently
- Must be able to lift with your shoulders
