SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering team. They ensure that new production programs are launched effectively, and that existing production programs are supported with continuous improvement in quality, cost and delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead manufacturing engineering team members, providing direction and mentorship.
- Manage and foster strong collaboration with Product Development and Manufacturing to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
- Participate in design reviews and recommend improvements based on Design for Testability (DFT) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Develop and follow-up on product launch activities, including:
- Establish standardized manufacturing processes
- Development of production processes and tooling.
- Review and approval of manufacturing documentation for new products.
- Follow up on build of new tooling and required sampling of new products.
- Support new product launches, at times requiring travel to global factories.
- Provide ongoing technical support and continuous improvement of existing products, including:
- Work to improve quality, cost and delivery.
- Participate in quality issue root causes and corrective/preventive actions.
- Support capacity planning by assessing test and manufacturing capability relative to projected product volumes.
- Develop and support relationships with contract manufacturers
- Adhere to MultiTech rules and policies and provide leadership through training and example.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Engineering degree, preferably manufacturing, mechanical or electrical/electronics.
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Exposure to medium- to high-volume manufacturing of electronic or electromechanical products.
- Background in PCBA manufacturing and knowledge of IPC standards.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong written and oral English language skills, particularly in technical areas.
- Additional languages would be an asset.
- Ability to integrate into cross-functional teams including Quality, Design Engineering, Production and Product Management.
- Strong orientation towards data driven thinking and achievement of results.
- Understanding of common manufacturing and quality tools such as Lean Manufacturing; PFMEA; PPAP, etc.
- Ability to travel internationally (20-30%).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lifting requirements up to 25 pounds.
- Requires sitting for periods of time and occasional standing.
- Use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Reaching required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Minimal noise.
- Our facility includes a manufacturing environment. Moderate noise level. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; safety glasses, hearing protection, wrist and shoe straps, and ESD smock. Loose fitting clothing and jewelry are not permitted. No food allowed in the manufacturing area. No cell phone use allowed in manufacturing area unless approved by management.
