This position sits within the Destinations Group of Hamilton City Council. The purpose of this group is to deliver thriving events, attractions, and destinations – Hamilton Gardens, Te Whare Taonga o Waikato Museum and Gallery, Te Kaaroro Nature Precinct and H3 venues ( Claudelands Events Centre, FMG Stadium Waikato and Seddon Park)

Te Whare Taonga o Waikato Museum & Gallery is the artistic and cultural heart of our city. This Council-owned and operated destination celebrates our rich and diverse cultural heritage, particularly with respect to our relationship with iwi. It also showcases the region’s artistic vibrancy and scientific innovation.

The Marketing Executive will play an integral role in communicating our purpose and vision to the community and beyond. Reporting to the Director, Museum and Arts, this position manages the communication and marketing activities supporting Te Whare Taonga o Waikato Museum & Gallery.

This will include –

Lead and implement marketing and communication portfolio for Te Whare Taonga o Waikato Museum & Gallery.
Ensure proactive, effective, efficient, and timely provision of specialist comms, media, social media, and marketing for Te Whare Taonga o Waikato Museum & Gallery.
Lead the delivery of messaging to ensure consistent, quality story telling that is on-brand and aligns with Te Whare Taonga o Waikato Museum & Gallery’s purpose, principles and values.
Lead delivery of communications and marketing strategies to increase the profile and reputation of Te Whare Taonga o Waikato Museum & Gallery regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience :

Tertiary qualification in Marketing or Communication.
At least 7 year’s demonstrated experience with internal communications, external communications, branding, marketing and media management.
Experience in the GLAM sector or tourism industry desired.
Ability to formulate, implement and execute strategic objectives and plans.
Demonstrated experience in managing and optimizing digital marketing strategies amd tools, including web, social and google channels.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate well to a range of people and influence thinking.
Excellent interpersonal skills: communication, team effectiveness, conflict resolution and ability to work collaboratively.
High level of relationship management experience.
Commercial and business acumen.
The ability to work weekends, public holidays, and evenings to cover social media (as required).
