Company Overview
MW Canada is a vertically integrated textile manufacturer located in Cambridge, Ontario with more than 60 years of experience designing and manufacturing textiles for a variety of end uses.
While our roots are in apparel, upholstery, and blanket fabrics, today we primarily serve the window covering and healthcare industries. Our continued success is built on innovation, adaptability, strong customer relationships, and our ability to develop and manufacture products from concept through production.
Job Overview
We are looking for a Sales & Business Development Associate to join our team in Cambridge, Ontario.
This is a hands-on, customer-focused role that combines account support, product development, sales, and business development. The successful candidate will work closely with our sales, design, manufacturing, quality, and management teams to learn our products, processes, customers, and markets.
Initially, the focus will be on learning the business, supporting existing customer relationships, and coordinating product-development activities from customer request through sampling, testing, approval, and follow-up. As knowledge and experience develop, the successful candidate will take on greater responsibility for customer accounts and new business opportunities.
Because understanding how our products are made is an important part of the role, this position is primarily on-site at our Cambridge manufacturing facility, involving regular interaction with both office and production teams.
What You'll Do
Support existing customer relationships and provide responsive day-to-day account support.
Coordinate customer requests, quotations, samples, product information, testing, approvals, and follow-ups.
Coordinate product-development projects from initial request through sampling, testing, revisions, approval, and commercialization.
Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, sales, and management to keep customer projects moving forward.
Track customer commitments, deadlines, outstanding actions, and next steps to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
Participate in customer meetings, presentations, visits, and product discussions.
Develop a strong understanding of MW Canada's products and manufacturing processes, including weaving, yarn processing, dyeing, and finishing.
Gradually assume responsibility for selected customer accounts as product, customer, and manufacturing knowledge develops.
Research prospective customers, markets, applications, and business opportunities that align with MW Canada's capabilities.
Support customer outreach, new business development, trade shows, and industry events.
Prepare customer presentations, product samples, and other sales and marketing materials.
Qualifications
College diploma or university degree in business, marketing, textiles, design, engineering, or a related field is preferred. A combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered.
Approximately 2–5 years of professional experience in a customer-facing, commercial, manufacturing, product-development, design, sales, or related role is preferred.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, customer requests, deadlines, and follow-ups at the same time.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Comfortable working collaboratively across different departments and communicating with both customers and internal teams.
Curious and willing to learn technical products and manufacturing processes.
Able to work independently, take initiative, and identify productive next steps without requiring constant direction.
Comfortable using general business software and learning new digital tools and technology.
Experience in textiles, manufacturing, technical sales, B2B account management, design, or product development is an asset, but is not required.
Interest in design, colour, textiles, manufacturing, or product development would also be an asset.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is organized, curious, dependable, and proactive.
You do not need to come into the role already knowing textiles. What is important is your willingness and ability to learn our products and manufacturing processes, ask questions, follow through on commitments, and build strong working relationships with customers and colleagues.
This role would be a strong fit for someone who enjoys having a variety of responsibilities, likes seeing how products are actually made, and wants the opportunity to grow into greater customer and business-development responsibility over time.
