Role Description The Journeyman Technician is a full-time, on-site role based at Nanaimo Chrysler Ltd. in Nanaimo, BC. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing vehicle issues, performing repairs and maintenance, and completing inspections in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards. The technician will use diagnostic tools and service manuals to ensure accurate and efficient work, maintain detailed repair records, and follow all safety procedures. The role also involves communicating clearly with service advisors, supporting teammates in the shop, and helping ensure a positive service experience for customers.
Qualifications
- Recognized Journeyperson/Red Seal automotive technician certification or equivalent, with strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills.
- Experience using modern diagnostic equipment, service software, and manufacturer repair information.
- Solid understanding of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and repair procedures accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, quality-focused work habits, and commitment to safety in the shop environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with service advisors and other technicians.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a range of vehicles safely.
- Previous experience in a dealership or automotive service environment, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram experience considered an asset.
