Junior / Intermediate Sour Gas Plant Operator
Location: Grande Prairie, AB (must be local)
Schedule: 8 Days On / 6 Days Off | 10 Hours/Day
Our Oil & Gas client is seeking a Junior or Intermediate Sour Gas Plant Operator to join their operations team in the Grande Prairie area. This role is ideal for a safety-focused operator with sour gas processing experience who is looking to grow their career in a dynamic production environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3rd or 4th Class Power Engineering Certification (ABSA)
- Experience operating sour gas processing facilities and associated field equipment required
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of Alberta regulatory, environmental, and safety standards
- Valid safety certifications and clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an operations team
Key Responsibilities
Plant & Production Operations
- Monitor, operate, and optimize sour gas plant systems and associated field facilities.
- Record, calculate, and report production data accurately and on time.
- Monitor well and facility performance, identify issues, and recommend optimization opportunities.
- Troubleshoot operational problems to maximize production while maintaining safety and environmental compliance.
- Monitor tanks, process equipment, pipeline pressures, and facility conditions.
- Assist with liquid loading management, hydrate prevention programs, pigging activities, and well optimization initiatives.
- Provide after-hours operational support as required.
Maintenance & Reliability
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and complete minor repairs on tanks, wellheads, engines, and production equipment.
- Identify leaks, equipment deficiencies, and reliability concerns, ensuring timely corrective action.
- Coordinate maintenance activities and contractor work through appropriate work management processes.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture at all times.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company policies, industry regulations, and OH&S requirements.
- Conduct hazard assessments and verify appropriate permits are in place prior to commencing work.
- Identify, mitigate, and report safety and environmental hazards.
- Participate in incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action processes.
- Maintain valid safety tickets and required training certifications.
Facility & Asset Management
- Maintain leases, facilities, buildings, and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
- Ensure signage, tank labeling, and site documentation remain current and compliant.
- Complete required reports, inspections, and operational documentation accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working order.
Teamwork & Communication
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors and cross-shift personnel.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and field support teams.
- Provide operational recommendations and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster positive working relationships with coworkers, contractors, landowners, and stakeholders.
