About The Role
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll Technician to join a reputable public-sector organization located in Laval. In this role, you will be responsible for managing comprehensive payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of payroll services. Your expertise will support the organization’s financial operations by handling complex payroll calculations, validating data, and generating essential reports. You will work closely with HR and finance teams to ensure that employee compensation, benefits, and deductions are processed accurately and efficiently. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a DEC in administration, accounting, management, or a related field. Relevant experience in payroll processing is essential, along with a solid understanding of payroll rules and standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is required to manage large datasets and perform detailed analysis. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy in data handling. Confidentiality and discretion are paramount, as the role involves sensitive employee information. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders are also necessary. Familiarity with COBA HR/Payroll software is considered an asset, enhancing your ability to adapt quickly to our systems and processes.
Responsibilities
- Handle general payroll processing tasks, including validation and validation of payroll data to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare and analyze payroll-related data, such as vacation accruals, retroactive adjustments, and employee terminations.
- Perform calculations related to payroll deductions, pension contributions, and other statutory requirements.
- Generate employment records, tax forms, and various payroll reports essential for compliance and record-keeping.
- Monitor and manage the budget allocated for compensation and benefits programs.
- Analyze financial data related to payroll to identify discrepancies and make recommendations for improvements.
- Conduct checks and validations to uphold data integrity and prevent errors.
- Participate in process improvements to enhance payroll systems and workflows.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, compensation, and benefits, providing accurate information and performing simulations as needed.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams on year-end payroll operations and administrative tasks to ensure smooth processing and compliance.
