Job Title: Digital Architect – Senior
Location: Edmonton, AB – 100% Onsite
Employment Type: Contract – 3 Years, with possible 24-month extension
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Digital Architect to provide architecture leadership across application modernization, digital services, data, AI, cloud, integration, security, and application management initiatives.
The successful candidate will work across multiple projects and operational priorities, providing hands-on technical leadership, architecture governance, solution design, business analysis, vendor oversight, and modernization guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead current-state and target-state architecture roadmaps across application, data, integration, security, and technology domains.
- Define architecture principles, standards, patterns, guardrails, and reusable components.
- Develop solution designs, integration models, technical assessments, architecture decision records, and implementation roadmaps.
- Assess technical feasibility, operational readiness, sustainability, security risks, dependencies, and architectural trade-offs.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership to development, application support, operations, and vendor teams.
- Review technical designs, code implementations, integrations, deployments, and solution configurations.
- Establish integration approaches, interface patterns, and application boundaries.
- Support Azure, Red Hat OpenShift, DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and environment management.
- Lead discovery sessions, workshops, stakeholder consultations, requirements analysis, and solution-option development.
- Provide architecture and technical oversight for application support and operational environments.
- Support major incident reviews, problem management, release planning, change advisory processes, and production readiness.
- Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, improve reliability, and strengthen support models.
- Participate in architecture governance and technical review processes.
- Evaluate vendor solutions, technical proposals, estimates, designs, and deliverables against established standards.
- Provide technical input into procurement activities, statements of work, and architecture evaluations.
- Define architecture approaches for data integration, analytics, reporting, and AI-enabled services.
- Support secure and compliant adoption of AI technologies.
- Develop architecture documentation, diagrams, presentations, recommendations, and executive briefings.
- Mentor technical resources and promote architecture best practices, reuse, standardization, and sustainable delivery.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
- College or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- TOGAF certification.
- 18+ years leading cross-functional Agile product teams.
- 15+ years architecting, managing, and maintaining Azure Red Hat OpenShift clusters.
- 18+ years identifying and assessing requirements across multiple architecture domains.
- 17+ years documenting application architectures in enterprise IT environments.
- 17+ years planning, designing, implementing, and supporting platform solutions.
- 18+ years providing technical leadership, planning, estimating, and presenting technical concepts and recommendations.
- Strong experience across enterprise architecture, application modernization, integration, cloud, security, and operational support.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- 15+ years collaborating with technical and business teams to design and optimize enterprise solutions.
- 15+ years contributing to or developing application architecture standards and guidelines.
- 15+ years working as an Application Architect designing or maintaining enterprise solutions.
- 5+ years of Application Architect experience developing solutions using amCharts.
- 15+ years developing mobile solutions in an enterprise environment.
- 5+ years working with OWASP Top Ten Web Application Security Risks.
- Experience with architecture governance, reusable services, technical standards, and modernization strategies.
- Experience supporting data, analytics, AI, and enterprise application integration initiatives.
