About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Community Support Worker to support individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and OCD in a residential setting.
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will promote independence, community inclusion, personal well-being, and quality of life through individualized supports and person-centered practices.
Schedule & Compensation
Position Type: Permanent Part-Time
Location: Acadia Group Home, Southeast Calgary
Hours: 25 Hours Per Week
Starting Rate: $21.19/hour + Shift Differentials
Schedule:
- Saturday: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Tuesday: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support with daily living activities and personal care.
- Assist with community participation, recreation, appointments, and transportation.
- Support communication, skill development, and personal goals.
- Implement behaviour support and service plans using person-centered approaches.
- Administer medications and complete required documentation.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive home environment.
- Collaborate effectively with families, guardians, and interdisciplinary professionals.
What We're Looking For
- Patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is an asset.
- Understanding of sensory integration, social stories, and positive behaviour supports.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building positive relationships.
- Comfortable supporting individuals during swimming and other recreational activities.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Disability Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
- International credentials may require WES or IQAS assessment.
- Intermediate computer proficiency.
- Current First Aid/CPR, NVCI, Medication Administration, PBS, APRP, and Food Safety certifications, or willingness to obtain.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
Mandatory Requirements
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2,000,000 liability insurance.
- Comfortable driving throughout Calgary.
- Comfortable supporting individuals in aquatic activities.
- Comfortable working around dogs and cats.
