About the Role
New Age Services Inc. (NAS) is seeking a professional, objective, and relationship-focused HR Advisor, Employee Relations to join our Human Resources team. This position plays a key role in supporting employees, supervisors, and leaders by providing guidance on employee relations matters, performance management, workplace concerns, accommodations, and conflict of interest processes.
As a neutral resource, the HR Advisor helps ensure workplace concerns are reviewed fairly, employees are provided an opportunity to be heard, and organizational policies and procedures are applied consistently. The successful candidate will contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture while maintaining strict confidentiality and professional integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Coordinate employee relations and disciplinary processes from intake through follow-up.
- Review workplace concerns and supporting documentation for completeness and procedural compliance.
- Meet with supervisors and employees to gather information and understand concerns.
- Conduct preliminary fact-finding and prepare objective summaries and recommendations.
- Draft disciplinary letters, action plans, meeting notes, and related documentation.
- Maintain confidential and accurate employee relations records.
Performance Management
- Advise supervisors on performance management processes and best practices.
- Support the development and monitoring of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Review performance documentation for consistency, fairness, and completeness.
- Ensure employees have opportunities to understand and respond to performance concerns.
- Escalate complex or high-risk matters to the HR Manager.
Accommodation & Conflict of Interest Support
- Provide guidance on accommodation and conflict of interest processes.
- Review accommodation documentation and identify implementation concerns or gaps.
- Ensure accommodation considerations are reviewed before disciplinary or performance decisions are finalized.
- Promote consistent application of organizational policies and procedures.
- Escalate complex accommodation or legal-risk matters as required.
Collaboration & Administration
- Work collaboratively with Human Resources team members and organizational leaders.
- Maintain employee relations, accommodation, and performance management tracking systems.
- Monitor follow-up requirements, review dates, and outstanding actions.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and trend analysis for the HR Manager.
- Participate in projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and organizational activities as assigned.
Pay & Schedule
Compensation for this position is starting from $29.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. The regular work schedule is Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work either 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet operational needs.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Employment Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations, workplace investigations, disciplinary processes, performance management, or related areas.
- Strong interviewing, conflict resolution, communication, and documentation skills.
- Working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, Human Rights, Privacy, and Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
- Ability to maintain neutrality, manage sensitive information, and exercise sound judgment.
- Experience with accommodation or conflict of interest processes is considered an asset.
- CPHR designation or active pursuit of designation is considered an asset.
- AI literacy and experience using workplace technology tools are considered assets.
- Comfortable and respectful in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
