New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to support the migration and modernization of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions from Cognos to the Microsoft BI platform. This role will design, develop, migrate, and optimize reports, dashboards, cubes, data models, and data warehouse solutions using Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, and SQL Server.
Responsibilities:
- Migrate Cognos reports and cubes to Microsoft technologies including Power BI, SSAS, and SSRS.
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, and DAX solutions.
- Develop and support SSAS cubes, SSRS reports, SSIS ETL processes, and SQL Server databases.
- Build complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions to support reporting and analytics.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications, data models, reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
- Support data warehouse development, data migration, cloud migration, and reporting platform configuration.
- Implement data validation, reconciliation, row-level security, and performance optimization.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide ongoing support for BI and reporting solutions.
- Create technical documentation and train business and technical users on delivered solutions.
- Work closely with business users and technical teams in an Agile, iterative delivery environment.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience developing enterprise Microsoft BI and analytics solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, DAX, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, and SQL Server.
- Advanced SQL development experience, including complex queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
- Strong experience with data modelling, data warehousing, ETL, and data visualization.
- Experience with tabular and/or multidimensional cubes.
- Experience implementing data/row-level security, data quality, reconciliation, and performance optimization.
- Experience translating business requirements into technical designs and reporting solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience migrating Cognos reports or cubes to Microsoft BI technologies.
- Experience with Cognos Report Studio, Cognos TM1, Tableau, Informatica, or similar BI/ETL tools.
- Experience with financial reporting or analytics.
- Experience with cloud or enterprise data migration initiatives.
- Experience working in healthcare, government, or other large enterprise environments.
