About the Role
Our growing company is seeking energetic, positive, and reliable Mechanical Design Engineer to support our customers.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide technical direction to teams of specialized engineers within the energy sector.
- Plan, manage, and deliver project tasks in accordance with defined schedules and budgets.
- Liaise with discipline leads, project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout all project phases.
- Prepare and review engineering reports and calculations (e.g., hydraulic, equipment sizing, stress analysis, FMEA).
- Develop technical specifications for services, components, and equipment.
- Support engineering change control (ECC) activities and provide design clarifications as required.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, mentoring, and supervisory capabilities, fostering collaboration and accountability within the team.
- Prepare technical deliverables and reports to successful completion in compliance with regulatory and client requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of nuclear power plant design and operation, including reactor components (Primary Heat Transport, feeders, calandria).
- Experience in piping and equipment design within regulated environments.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including:
- CSA N285.0, N286.7, N289
- ASME Section III (Subsections NB, NC, ND, NF)
- ASME B31.1, B31.3
- ASME Section VIII
- Experience producing Design Specifications and Overpressure Protection Reports.
- Familiarity with ASME Section III Appendix XXIII qualification is considered an asset.
- Understanding of engineering change control (ECC) processes and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Recognized by peers for professionalism, technical expertise, and quality of work.
Education & Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s or PhD is an asset).
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nuclear engineering experience in project or field engineering roles.
- Actively pursuing P.Eng. designation and valid Nuclear site access.
- Valid nuclear site access or ability to obtain it.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of nuclear power plant design and operation, including reactor components (Primary Heat Transport, feeders, calandria).
- Experience in piping and equipment design within regulated environments.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant codes and standards (CSA, ASME as listed above).
- Understanding of engineering change control (ECC) processes and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Skills
- Experience producing Design Specifications and Overpressure Protection Reports.
- Familiarity with ASME Section III Appendix XXIII qualification.
