Position Overview
This co-op offers hands-on experience in software development, automation, and emerging technologies within Nexus Energy. You will support the development and enhancement of internal applications, APIs, databases, and reporting tools while collaborating on real-world business solutions. You will also gain exposure to AI initiatives, including workflow automation, prompt engineering, and AI-powered applications.
What You Will Do
- Assist in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of internal applications and software solutions.
- Support database development, data integration, and automation projects.
- Develop and enhance web applications, APIs, and reporting tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and application issues.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for developed solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with team members on development initiatives.
- Assist with system integration projects and process improvements.
- Research and evaluate emerging AI technologies and tools that may improve business processes and operational efficiency.
- Support AI-related proof-of-concept projects, including data preparation, prompt engineering, workflow automation, and AI-powered application features.
What You Will Bring:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Python, Go, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
- Understanding of software development principles and object-oriented programming.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Nice To Have:
- Experience with personal, academic, or open-source software projects.
- Familiarity with web development, APIs, and database technologies.
- Interest in AI, automation, and emerging technologies.
