About the Role
Norco Bicycles is seeking an experienced quality professional with strong hands-on mechanical skills to join our team as a Product Quality Technician. This role sits at the intersection of Quality, Product Management, and Engineering, providing the hands-on validation capacity that ensures every bike meets Norco's quality and performance standards before it reaches production, marketing, or sale.
You'll own technical validation at critical stages of the development cycle, from NPI (New Product Introduction) sign-off and technical documentation audits through to marketing, media, and sales support. As a trusted individual contributor, you'll make sure every bike leaving the build area is production-ready, so that Product Management, Quality, and Engineering can focus on design, sourcing, and program management.
What You'll Do
NPI Validation & Audit
- Perform NPI product validation and formal sign-off (New Model Sign Off) in partnership with Product Management and Engineering
- Support BOM (Bill of Materials) and PRD (Product Requirements Document) audits, flagging discrepancies between spec, BOM, PRD, and physical build early in the process
- Perform product and stock audits, including FAI (First Article Inspection), reporting to Product Management, Quality Management, and the Taiwan QC team
- Assist with audits of technical documentation, assembly documentation, and SOPs
Quality & Issue Identification
- Collaborate closely with QC and Engineering to identify and document compatibility and functional issues ahead of mass production
- Inspect and measure frame alignment and part tolerances using calipers, micrometers, and other tools against 2D engineering drawings and GD&T specifications, recording results clearly for Quality and Engineering review
- Provide mechanic-level insight into fit, function, and durability concerns during pre-production review
Bike Builds
- Build and assemble bikes to spec for field testing, NPI validation, first production, and marketing, media, and sales needs
- Complete builds accurately, on schedule, and to a professional mechanical standard, including correct torque specs and fastener practices
- Read and work from 2D engineering drawings, BOMs, and spec sheets to ensure builds match intended design
- Organize and audit incoming parts for samples and pre-production builds, including facilitating orders from partners within the direction and budget approved by Product Managers
- Support QC and Rider Support teams with product rework at destination as needed
Workspace & Inventory
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of our product build area and incoming goods
- Track and manage parts and tools needed for builds and validation work
- Assist with sample bike and parts inventory, including year-end count
- Assist with decommissioning end-of-life product
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
Required
- Professional bike mechanic experience at a high standard, through relevant technical certification and/or several years of professional shop or industry experience
- Proven ability to work independently as an individual contributor with minimal supervision
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, comfortable working with Product, QC, and Engineering teams and with overseas colleagues across time zones and language barriers
- Sharp attention to detail and comfort working against specs, BOMs, and sign-off checklists
- Proficiency with professional measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, taper and bore gauges, borescopes, torque wrenches) and the ability to record results accurately and repeatably
- Ability to read 2D engineering drawings, including basic GD&T, tolerances, and datums
- Clear written communication and the ability to document findings in writing and photos for a global, multilingual audience
- Strong organization and the discipline to maintain a clean, efficient workspace
- Willingness to pursue professional development in formal QC training (e.g., GD&T, metrology, or equivalent certifications)
Preferred
- Experience with NPI processes or pre-production quality workflows in the bike or broader consumer product industry
- ASQ certification (CQT, CQI) or an equivalent quality credential
Salary Range: $58,500 – $71,500 per year
