Original job description

Company Description North Brands Group Ltd. (NBG) is Canada’s largest independent retailer specializing in dresswear and casual clothing for boys and girls. Operating under the Northboys and Northgirls banners, NBG manages four retail locations and two e-commerce platforms, Northboys.ca and Northgirls.ca. Founded in 2011, Northboys was created to fill a gap in the teen boys’ apparel market by offering a sophisticated, age-appropriate shopping experience for ages 11–16. The brand features one of North America’s largest selections of boys’ dresswear and curated casualwear, including premium labels such as Hugo Boss, Emporio Armani, Diesel, Scotch & Soda, Psycho Bunny, and Ralph Lauren. In 2021, NBG expanded with Northgirls, delivering a similarly specialized retail experience for girls.

Role Description The Assistant Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Upper Kingsclear, NB. This role supports the Store Manager in daily operations, including supervising sales associates, ensuring strong customer service standards, and maintaining visual merchandising and inventory accuracy. The Assistant Manager helps drive sales performance by monitoring key metrics, coaching team members, and supporting promotional activities both in-store and in coordination with e-commerce. Responsibilities also include handling opening and closing procedures, assisting with scheduling, supporting hiring and onboarding, and enforcing company policies and procedures. The individual in this role collaborates closely with leadership to uphold NBG’s brand standards and deliver a positive, inclusive shopping experience for customers.

Qualifications

Experience in retail or customer-facing roles, with strong skills in customer service, sales support, and relationship building.
Operational abilities in inventory management, point-of-sale systems, cash handling, and basic reporting.
Team leadership skills, including staff supervision, coaching, delegation, and performance support.
Organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, manage shifts, and maintain store standards.
Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse team members and customers.
Comfort with basic digital tools and e-commerce platforms to support online orders and omnichannel initiatives.
Previous experience in apparel or fashion retail is an asset, especially in youth or teen categories.
High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, retail management, or a related field is an advantage.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and peak retail periods.
