Our team has been known to call us The Unicorn Clinic, and we are ready to share our beautiful group of CSR’s, experienced RVTs, ACA’s and veterinarians with another part-time veterinarian. We are a privately owned veterinary hospital located in a rural area, in the beautiful Kawartha Lakes area. We are surrounded by world renowned theatre, stunning lakes and recreational areas, as well as being a short drive to bigger centers. We have built our clinic on the premise of putting our team at the forefront of our circle of care, knowing that a happy team provides an extraordinary client and patient experience. Our high standard of care is supported not only by our dedicated people, but by a digital radiology, digital dental radiology suite, a full Idexx lab including our newly installed In-Vue analyzer, and ultrasound. We also have the luxury of being able to call in IM and surgical specialists for the extra difficult cases. We are supported by excellent emergency clinics on evenings and weekends. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Veterinarian role located in Ontario, Canada. The Veterinarian will conduct physical examinations, diagnose illnesses and injuries, develop treatment plans, and perform medical and surgical procedures for a variety of animal patients. Daily responsibilities include prescribing medications, providing preventive care such as vaccinations and wellness checks, and interpreting diagnostic tests. The role involves communicating clearly with animal caregivers about diagnoses, treatment options, follow-up care, and overall health management. The Veterinarian will also maintain accurate medical records, follow established clinical protocols, collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff, and may contribute to ongoing research projects and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) as a Veterinarian in Ontario, Canada, and graduation from an accredited veterinary program).
- Clinical skills in diagnosis, treatment planning, and performance of routine medical and surgical procedures, including preventive care and emergency response.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain medical information clearly, build trust with animal caregivers, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate medical recordkeeping, adherence to clinical protocols, and safe handling of pharmaceuticals and equipment.
- Commitment to animal welfare, ethical practice, and continuing professional development, with an interest in research or evidence-based medicine considered an asset.
- Ability to work on-site in a clinical environment, stand for extended periods, and safely handle animals of varying sizes and temperaments.
- Experience in a small animal as is familiarity with Canadian veterinary regulations and standards.
