About ODL & Position Necessity
At ODL, we manufacture building products using heavy industrial machinery, automated assembly systems, and specialized metal framing components. To ensure continuous plant safety, repair structural components, and fabricate custom heavy-duty brackets, frames, and machine guards essential to our manufacturing operations, we require a full-time, dedicated Welder. This position is urgently necessary to our production infrastructure to minimize equipment downtime and maintain our in-house metal fabrication requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and precise welding symbols for internal plant structures and machinery frames.
· Operate advanced MIG and TIG welding equipment to fabricate and repair specialized metal components, frames, and safety fixtures used across our production lines.
· Inspect industrial structures, material handling equipment, and metal machinery parts to ensure strict safety and structural integrity.
· Prepare, clean, and grind metal surfaces meticulously before and after the welding process.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, strictly adhering to company and provincial health and safety standards.
Mandatory Qualifications & Requirements
· Minimum 3+ years of documented hands-on experience welding specialized industrial, structural, or manufacturing components.
· Advanced technical proficiency with high-precision MIG and TIG welding techniques.
· Demonstrated ability to independently interpret detailed engineering blueprints and technical schematics.
· Must successfully pass an intensive on-site practical weld test and technical shop assessment during the interview process.
· CWB Welding Certificate would be an asset.
· Strong attention to detail, precision, and physical stamina required for heavy shop floor duties.
· Note: Prior Canadian work experience is not required; international welding experience and relevant trade certifications are welcome.
