Position: Human Resources Business Partner

Job Summary:
The Human Resources Business Partner provides strategic HR leadership and advisory support across the Onion Lake Group of Companies Corp. (OLGCC). The position works with corporate representatives, managers, and leadership to strengthen workforce planning, employee development, organizational performance, and corporate compliance. This role leads HR modernization, training and development initiatives, Indigenous employment strategies, and workforce solutions that support the long-term economic and human development goals of Onion Lake Cree Nation.
Responsibilities:
· Provide strategic HR advice and support to OLGCC executives, corporate representatives, managers, and supervisors across all business entities.
· Develop and implement HR and workforce strategies tailored to OLGCC's diverse industrial, retail, service, and corporate operations.
· Support management in addressing employee relations, performance concerns, leadership challenges, absenteeism, retention, and workplace productivity.
· Develop and facilitate leadership training, management development, policy orientations, performance management, and employee onboarding programs.
· Develop recruitment, mentorship, apprenticeship, and career-development strategies that prioritize employment and advancement opportunities for Onion Lake Cree Nation members.
· Support workforce planning, organizational growth, job development, succession planning, and identification of future staffing needs.
· Ensure compliance with applicable federal, provincial, First Nations, human rights, pay equity, labour, and workplace safety requirements.
· Lead or support workplace investigations, compliance reviews, employee complaints, and health and safety initiatives.
· Support the maintenance of COR/SECOR requirements within applicable operations.
· Participate in corporate transformation initiatives, including HRIS/ATS implementation, policy development, and organizational improvements.
· Build effective relationships with OLGCC leadership, regulatory authorities, legal counsel, educational institutions, and other external partners.
· Monitor organizational outcomes, including training completion, employee retention, compliance, local hiring, mentorship, and career advancement.
Qualifications:
· University degree or post-secondary diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
· CPHR designation or active candidate status is highly preferred.
· Minimum 5 years of progressive strategic HR experience; experience within multi-industry, First Nations, and/or unionized environments is considered a strong asset.
· Strong knowledge of Treaty 6 history, First Nations governance, and Cree cultural values.
· Demonstrated experience developing and delivering leadership training, corporate training, management workshops, and adult-learning initiatives.
· Strong knowledge of employment and labour legislation, human rights, pay equity, workplace safety, and organizational risk management.
· Strong skills in strategic planning, employee relations, performance management, workforce development, investigations, coaching, and organizational change.
· Ability to work effectively with executives, managers, employees, community members, regulatory agencies, and external partners.
