Project Estimator
Ontario Bollards Inc. | Georgetown, Ontario
Own estimating and drafting at Canada's only crash-rated bollard manufacturer: take-offs, pricing, fabrication drawings and 3D models for every job we quote, build and install.
Reports to: VP Sales and Marketing. Technical training and sign-off from the Chief Revenue Officer
Location: Georgetown, ON (west GTA). On-site, with site visits across Ontario
Type: Full-time, permanent. 40 hours
Compensation: $70,000 to $85,000 base plus 15% performance bonus
Who this is for
You come from a metal or steel fabrication shop and you have done both halves of the job: estimated the work and drawn it. AutoCAD fabrication drawings a shop floor built from, 3D models in SolidWorks or Inventor, take-offs from structural and architectural drawings. You deal directly with general contractors, architects and approval authorities, and you hit deadlines.
Why this job exists
Ontario Bollards designs, fabricates and installs specified protection systems. The quote is where the engineering happens: product selection, crash rating, site conditions, fabrication and installation scope, and the drawing is where it becomes a product. Our Chief Revenue Officer has priced these systems for years. As we grow and bring more fabrication in-house, estimating and drafting is a dedicated function: one specialist, one standard, on time, and drawings our shop and partners build from directly. This seat is the backbone of our sales system.
What you will own
Estimating
- Every quote the company issues, from covers and bolt-downs to crash-rated automatic bollards and road blockers, with fabrication, installation and service
- Quantity take-offs from drawing sets, site plans and spec sections. Product selection against the specified rating. Material take-offs and cut lists for costing
- Installation scope: mobilization, locates, auger versus concrete, electrical and controls coordination, restoration, winter conditions
- Site discovery on automatic and crash-rated systems: control panel location, run distances, passage frequency, power
- Turnaround: routine quotes same day, standard within two business days, complex on a committed date, taken over from the CRO in stages with his sign-off
Drafting and fabrication
- Fabrication drawings in AutoCAD for custom bollards, covers, base plates, sleeves and site-specific assemblies, released to our shop and to our fabrication, galvanizing and coating partners
- 3D models in SolidWorks, Inventor or equivalent for custom parts, customer approvals and our product library
- Shop drawing submittals, layout and spacing drawings for architects and general contractors. Revisions and as-builts
- Drawings and pricing that match. The shop builds from your drawings and the crew installs from them, without rework
Also yours: quotes built in Zoho CRM on our templates, the price book and job templates, sales orders with PO numbers and legal names right the first time, and review of AI-assisted intake drafts. Training is hands-on: field days on active job sites with our install crews and time in the shop during your first months, so you know exactly what you are pricing and drawing. Sealed drawings and structural analysis stay with a P.Eng. we bring in when a job needs one.
What makes this seat different
- You own the function. Estimating and drafting for the only Canadian manufacturer of ASTM F2656 and ASTM F3016 crash-rated bollards. The sales system is built around this seat.
- The hardest quotes in the category, taught by our CRO and handed to you in stages.
- Your drawings get built. Ottawa City Hall, Montreal City Hall, Edmonton Ice District, Scotia Place.
- AI is part of how we work. AI-assisted intake drafts routine quotes, and we use AI tools across quoting, drafting support and research. You will use them every day.
- A seat that grows. Fabrication coming in-house, US expansion under way. As volume grows, you lead the function.
- Salaried with a performance bonus tied to speed, accuracy and margin held. No quota, no commission.
