Role Description The Electrical Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Orangeville, ON. This position is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for high voltage and civil construction projects, including substations, pole lines, and underground distribution systems. Day-to-day tasks involve reviewing drawings and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, obtaining material and subcontractor pricing, and developing competitive bids. The Electrical Estimator collaborates with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure estimates reflect project scope, schedules, and constructability. The role also involves tracking project costs, updating estimating databases, and supporting budget reviews and change order pricing.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Electrical Estimating for high voltage and civil construction projects.
- Knowledge of Cost Control practices, including budgeting, cost tracking, and variance analysis.
- Experience in Electrical Contracting, including familiarity with industry standards, codes, and field operations.
- Solid understanding of Electricity principles and power distribution systems, particularly in the 4.8kV–115kV range.
- Background in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office; experience with construction management tools is an asset.
- Relevant education or certification in electrical technology, engineering, or construction estimating; equivalent experience considered.
