About Us
Ontario International High School (OIHS) is a Toronto-based online secondary school serving students internationally. As we grow, we are investing in more reliable, effective, and accessible educational technology to support our students, teachers, and academic operations.
We are seeking a hands-on Learning Technology Systems Administrator to take ownership of our academic technology environment and help us improve how our school operates.
About the Role
Working closely with our academic leadership team in Toronto, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, technical support, and continuous improvement of our learning and academic systems.
Our current technology environment includes PowerSchool, Moodle, and Google Workspace for Education. We are also exploring opportunities to improve our learning platforms, simplify workflows, and introduce new educational technologies.
This is a practical, hands-on role. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems independently, understands how educational systems work, and is comfortable taking responsibility for results.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Systems Administration
- Administer and support our learning management system (LMS), student information system (SIS), and Google Workspace environment.
- Support PowerSchool implementation, configuration, and ongoing operations.
- Manage student and teacher accounts, permissions, enrollments, and semester setup.
- Maintain reliable access to academic platforms and ensure accurate system configurations.
Technical Support & Maintenance
- Provide technical help-desk support for students, teachers, and academic staff.
- Investigate and resolve system errors, performance issues, login problems, and platform disruptions.
- Monitor system performance, security, backups, and hosting arrangements.
- Coordinate with external providers when necessary, while maintaining internal technical ownership.
Teaching & Learning Technology
- Provide technical onboarding and training for teachers and academic staff.
- Configure online assessments, examinations, and proctoring solutions.
- Support synchronous and asynchronous online learning environments.
- Help academic teams use educational technologies more effectively.
Systems Improvement
- Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and improve the user experience.
- Configure platform features, reporting tools, integrations, and plugins.
- Evaluate new educational technology solutions and support their implementation.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and system procedures.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in LMS administration, educational technology, systems administration, or a closely related technical role.
- Practical experience administering and troubleshooting an LMS such as Moodle, Canvas, Brightspace, or a comparable platform.
- Experience with user management, platform configuration, technical support, and system maintenance.
- Ability to independently investigate technical problems and implement solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work regularly from our downtown Toronto office.
Preferred
- Moodle administration, including plugins, reporting, performance troubleshooting, or hosting management.
- Experience with PowerSchool or another SIS.
- Google Workspace for Education administration.
- Familiarity with APIs, SQL, scripting, or workflow automation.
- Experience configuring online examinations, proctoring systems, or asynchronous learning environments.
- Experience working in K–12, higher education, or online learning organizations.
We value demonstrated technical ability, resourcefulness, and a proactive approach more than experience with any particular software product.
What We Offer
- A meaningful role with direct ownership of academic technology.
- The opportunity to improve and shape the systems of a growing international school.
- Close collaboration with academic leadership.
- Extended health benefits.
- Professional development and training opportunities.
- A collaborative, hybrid working environment in downtown Toronto.
This posting is for an existing vacancy.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and briefly describe an LMS or academic system you have personally administered, including one technical problem you investigated and resolved.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have directly configured, maintained, and improved systems, rather than exclusively coordinated technical requests with external providers.
