Achievements And Stimulating Challenges

Under the supervision of the Team Leader, the Electrical Modeling and Simulation Analyst will work in an agile environment. The successful candidate will actively participate in the modeling, control, and real-time simulation of power converters and power system circuits using CPUs and FPGAs. You will contribute to the maintenance and development of the MMC/VSC, HVDC, and FACTs libraries in the MATLAB/Simulink and Hypersim environments.

You will have the opportunity to apply your power electronics and power system expertise through simulation and software programming. You will be required to perform custom circuit design, modeling, and network simulation tasks to improve OPAL-RT MMC/HVDC products and meet the specifications of various client projects.

Main Duties

Take part in all phases of design, development, testing, packaging, and documentation of new features/solver of OPAL-RT MMC/HVDC libraries (targeted for CPU and FPGA environments), working mainly in Simulink, SimPower Systems, Xilinx Blockset, RTLAB, and Hypersim.
Execute, and validate tasks to design, model, control, and simulate customized power converters and power system circuits.
Participate in client projects, modeling power converter topologies and developing the interface between the controller and the converter simulator.
Research innovative design options for the product development. To write technical papers for conferences and journals
Collaborate with other team members to deliver complete and functional solutions;

Requirements

Education: Master’s degree or Ph.D in electrical engineering or power systems..
Experience: Masters or Ph.D. Experience in the fields of control and / or modeling of power electronics systems and EMT simulations.
Required knowledge: Modelling and simulation of power electronics converters and their control, knowledge of power systems and EMT simulation, FPGA programming. Matlab/Simulink.
Language abilities: French required. Good English skills are required for reading specialized/scientific books not available in French and the use of specialized software that exists only in English. 
Required skills:Autonomy, versatility, curiosity, organization, good interpersonal communication, analytical skills and adaptability.

Significant Assets

Experience with various tools like: Matlab/Simulink, PSCAD, EMTP, RT-Lab, HYPERSIM
Knowledge of OPAL-RT simulation software (RT-LAB, eHS, HYPERSIM or other real-time simulation tools).
Knowledge of HVDC and MMC.
Previous experience with FPGA programming
Previous experience with simulations Hardware in the loop or Rapid Control prototyping

Sous la supervision du Chef d’équipe, l'analyste en modélisation et simulation électrique travaillera dans un environnement agile. Le candidat sélectionné participera activement à la modélisation des convertisseurs de puissance, leur contrôle, et leur simulation en temps réel en CPU et FPGA. Il contribuera à la maintenance et au développement de la librairie MMC, HVDC and FACTs dans l'environnement MATLAB / Simulink et Hypersim.

Vous aurez l’opportunité de mettre en pratique votre expertise en matière de conversion de puissance en faisant de la simulation ainsi que de la programmation logicielle. Vous aurez à effectuer des tâches de conception, de modélisation, de simulation de circuits et des réseaux personnalisés afin d’améliorer les produits OPAL-RT MMC / HVDC et d’accomplir le cahier de charges des différents projets client.

Principales Responsabilités

Participer à toutes les phases de conception, de développement, de test, de packaging et de documentation des nouvelles fonctionnalités des bibliothèques OPAL-RT MMC / HVDC (destinées aux environnements CPU et FPGA), en travaillant principalement dans Simulink, SimPower Systems, Xilinx Blockset, RT-LAB et Hypersim.
Exécuter et valider des tâches de conception, de modélisation et de simulation de convertisseurs de de puissance et des circuits de systèmes de puissance
Participer dans des projets client pour faire la modélisation et contrôle des topologies de convertisseur et pour développer les interfaces entre le contrôleur et le convertisseur simulé dans les outils OPAL-RT.
Rechercher des options de conception innovantes pour le développement de produits, rédiger des articles techniques pour des conférences et des revues.
Collaborer avec d'autres membres de l'équipe pour fournir des solutions complètes et fonctionnelles.

Exigences

Scolarité: une Maîtrise ou un Doctorat en génie électrique ou en électronique de puissance.
Expérience: . Expérience en modélisation, simulation et/ou contrôle de convertisseurs de puissance ainsi qu’en simulation transitoire EMT.
Connaissances requises: modélisation et simulation de convertisseurs d'électronique de puissance et leur contrôle, connaissances des réseaux électriques, simulation transitoire EMT, utilisation des FPGA. Matlab/Simulink
Connaissances linguistiques: Français obligatoire. Une bonne connaissance de l'anglais est nécessaire pour la lecture d'ouvrages spécialisés/scientifiques non disponibles en français et pour l'utilisation de logiciels spécialisés qui n'existent qu'en anglais.
