Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Ophthalmologist role based in Montreal, QC. The Ophthalmologist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage a variety of ocular conditions, and provide medical and surgical treatment in accordance with best practices and clinic protocols. Daily responsibilities include interpreting diagnostic tests, recommending appropriate treatment plans, performing laser and surgical procedures as indicated, and coordinating care with optometrists and other healthcare professionals. The role also involves documenting clinical findings, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and supporting the clinic’s mission to provide accessible, patient-centered care to a diverse and often underserved population.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in clinical Medicine and Ophthalmology, with the ability to diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of eye diseases.
- Competence in Optometry-related skills, including refraction, contact lens assessment, and collaboration with optometrists on vision care plans.
- Proficiency in Laser procedures for ocular conditions, including safe operation of laser equipment and adherence to relevant protocols.
- Experience in Ophthalmic Surgery, including preoperative evaluation, surgical intervention, and postoperative care for common eye surgeries.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice Ophthalmology in Quebec, with board certification or equivalent recognized credentials.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and with diverse patient populations.
- Commitment to equitable, culturally sensitive care and an interest in working with refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable communities.
- Ability to work in French and English is highly beneficial, along with strong organizational skills and attention to detail in clinical documentation.
