🚨 Senior Software Engineer - Toronto
I’m working with a fast-growing financial technology company hiring a Software Engineer to join their backend team in Toronto.
You’ll be working on a sophisticated platform used by alternative asset managers across private equity, private debt and real estate, building systems around trade execution, portfolio management and risk analysis.

🎯 What you’ll be working on:
• Building and scaling backend services using Python, Django and FastAPI.
• Developing cloud-native applications on AWS, including APIs and event-driven microservices.
- Designing data models for complex financial products across multiple asset classes.
- Working with quants, risk teams, capital markets and external clients to understand requirements and build solutions.
• Working with financial data across FX, interest rates and alternative investments.
• Writing efficient, testable and maintainable code with a strong focus on performance, reliability and observability.
• Contributing to performance-critical systems, with Rust also used within the wider engineering platform.
What they’re looking for:
✅ Strong commercial experience with Python. Any exposure to Rust is a positive but not a must.
✅ Experience with Django, FastAPI or similar Python frameworks.
✅ Solid backend engineering and API development experience.
✅ Experience working with databases and data modelling.
✅ AWS experience is a plus.
✅ Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in tackling complex technical problems.
✅ A genuine interest in financial markets and technology.
Financial markets / risk experience is a plus, but not essential. They're open to engineers from different backgrounds who are interested in learning the domain.
