At Orbit, we take our work seriously, but we also believe that work should be enjoyable. We are a close-knit team working alongside physicians who are passionate about what they do, like to teach, and genuinely care about their patients and the people they work with.
Our practice is busy, our days are varied, and there is always something happening. The right person for this role will enjoy that. The right person for this role likes to stay busy, takes pride in doing things well, and is happiest when you are part of a team that is working together toward a common goal.
Why Orbit?
Work with Great Doctors
Our physicians are leaders in their field who are passionate about ophthalmology and teaching. You will have the opportunity to learn, develop your skills and work alongside physicians who value the contribution of their team.
Work That Keeps You Engaged
No two days are exactly the same. From diagnostic testing and patient assessments to assisting with procedures and supporting patients through their surgical journey, this is a role where you’ll stay engaged and continue to learn.
A Team That Has Your Back
We are a collaborative, supportive team. We work hard, help each other out and understand that the best patient care happens when everyone is working together.
A Great Place to Work
Our office is conveniently located south of Mount Royal University, away from the downtown core. We offer regular office hours with occasional weekend shifts, underground parking, medical and dental benefits, and a Health Spending Account.
What You Will Be Doing
As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will work closely with our physicians and clinical team to provide excellent patient care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Recording comprehensive patient histories

- Taking on other duties as required to support the team
What You Will Bring

JCAHPO certification is an asset
Experience
Previous ophthalmology or optometry experience is preferred
At least one year of experience working in a specialist medical practice is preferred
At least one year of experience working directly with patients is preferred
More Than Just a Skill Set
We can teach you our processes and help you learn new equipment. What is harder to teach is how you show up every day.
We are looking for someone who:
Likes to be busy.
You enjoy a fast-paced environment and take satisfaction in getting things done. Once you understand how things work, you are someone we can count on to keep things moving.
Is genuinely good with people.
You are friendly, approachable and comfortable talking with patients, whether you are welcoming them into the room, explaining a test or answering a question over the phone.
Takes pride in their work.
You notice the details. You want things done properly, and you don’t need someone looking over your shoulder to make sure they are done.
Wants to keep learning.
You are curious, ask questions and enjoy becoming better at what you do. You are excited by the opportunity to learn more about ophthalmology and develop your skills.
Is dependable.
You understand that every member of a clinical team matters. You show up, follow through and can be trusted to do what you say you will do.
Leads by example.
You don’t necessarily need a leadership title to be a leader. You are someone others enjoy working with, who is willing to help and who contributes positively to the team.
Has a kind heart.
Our patients are often navigating health concerns, surgery or uncertainty. We want someone who understands that kindness, patience and empathy are just as important as technical skills.
Why This Role?
If you’re looking for a job where you can simply come in, do your tasks and go home, this probably isn’t it.
If you’re looking for a place where you can learn, contribute, stay busy, work with great people and genuinely make a difference to patients, we think you will fit in well at Orbit.
We are proud of the team we have built and are looking for someone who will add to it.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
