In business for over 50 years, Ocean Steel Rebar Limited cuts, bends and installs reinforcing
steel for poured-in-placed concrete work. Ocean Steel Rebar’s plant capacity is currently 10,000+ tons. Their estimating, detailing, shop scheduling, tagging and shipping is performed using a computerized production management system. Rebar is detailed using the latest CAD technology offered by Bentley Microstation/ASA to CSA, CRSI and ASTM specifications. Rebar is installed using in-house or subcontracted crews depending on the project requirements.
Job Summary
Ocean Rebar Limited is seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Superintendent to lead operations at our Saint John facility. Reporting to senior leadership, this role is responsible for overseeing daily plant operations, ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently, and in alignment with quality standards. The Plant Superintendent will play a key leadership role in driving performance, developing teams, and fostering a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Lead all plant operations including cut/bend production, scheduling execution, maintenance, and shipping coordination
Ensure daily and weekly production targets are met and aligned with project delivery requirements
Drive a strong safety culture and enforce all safety procedures and standards
Monitor and manage key performance indicators including throughput, downtime, rework, and schedule adherence
Coordinate closely with detailing, estimating, and project teams to ensure smooth workflow from drawing release to shipment
Supervise and support foremen/supervisors to maintain consistent performance across shifts
Manage equipment maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maintain reliability
Maintain quality standards in alignment with CSA, CRSI, RSIC, and ASTM requirements
Identify and implement improvements to workflow, efficiency, and plant layout
Operate effectively within a unionized environment, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and established work practices
Qualifications
Technical Requirements
5–10+ years of leadership experience in industrial, manufacturing, or steel fabrication environments
Experience in rebar or heavy steel operations is a strong asset
Strong understanding of plant operations, production flow, and scheduling
Proven ability to lead crews and drive performance in a fast-paced environment
Solid working knowledge of industrial safety practices
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Proven track record of leading teams and improving operational performance
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
High attention to detail
