The Role
We are seeking a Material handler to join our P&H Milling team. This role is responsible for shipping and receiving of bulk and finished materials, packaging and transferring finished products within the warehouse as well as providing support to daily operations within the facility.
Day to Day
- Package finished products into totes or paper bag containers, ensuring products are distributed into packaging at the correct weight and according to quality and production specifications.
- Prepare and complete required documentation and labels for production and shipping.
- Weigh, load and unload trucks and rail cars with products including Pulses, pellets, flour, and screenings, in both bulk and packaged products.
- Communicate with carrier representatives in a professional and efficient manner.
- Track inventory of finished products in the warehouse using manual and digital systems.
- Maintain a clean work area and perform sanitation duties within the plant including sweeping and vacuuming.
- Comply with all related Standard Operating Procedures and complete all required reports according to BRCGS, HACCP and Food Safety Program.
- Complete and comply with all health, safety and food safety training relating to the job.
- Perform other operations duties as required and assigned by Production Supervisor.
What You’ll Bring:
- Previous experience in a general labourer, shipping & receiving, or agricultural processing position.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to operate a forklift and obtain a valid forklift license.
- Ability to operate a hoist and obtain a valid hoisting license.
- Ability to work at heights using fall protection equipment.
- Physically fit with the ability to safely lift and stack 25 kg bags.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable and dependable with an ability to work shiftwork, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Able to work in environments subject to dust allergens and higher temperatures as well as in all outside weather conditions.
- Basic computer proficiency
