Pacific International has been exclusively retained by a Fortune 500 building products manufacturer to find a Plant Manager for its resin facility in Crossfield, Alberta. The company runs a well-established operating system focused on continuous improvement. It is looking for a technically strong, continuous improvement minded leader to take ownership of a key chemical manufacturing operation.
The site recently finished a major multi-year expansion that tripled production capacity. It is a 24/7, large-scale operation that makes polystyrene resin through reactive chemistry processes. The next Plant Manager will build on that investment, strengthen the operation, and help shape the facility's next phase. You'll own Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Continuous Improvement. You'll lead an experienced technical team across Production, Process Engineering, EHS and Maintenance.
For the right leader, there is a clear path to broader responsibility across the wider Crossfield campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe and engaging environment for all employees, making sure safety procedures, systems and metrics are consistently followed. Support ISO 14001 requirements.
- Make sure manufacturing systems and processes consistently deliver strong product quality and customer satisfaction. Achieve delivery and quality KPIs and support ISO 9001.
- Deliver site cost and productivity targets while keeping inventory accuracy high.
- Champion the organization's Operating System and lead continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of the operation.
- Build organizational capability by setting clear expectations, developing talent and driving accountability, while keeping a positive and respectful workplace culture.
- Lead talent development, succession planning and employee engagement initiatives.
- Partner with R&D, Engineering, Technical Services, Sales, Logistics, Purchasing, HR and corporate teams, serving as the local expert on plant-related topics.
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a Plant Manager or Site Leader.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Chemical or Mechanical strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership.
- Experience with chemical unit operations; batch reactor experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of Alberta and Canadian regulations, including OHSA, ABSA and Ministry of Environment requirements.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control and capital project justification.
- Ability to support a 24/7 operation, including on-call availability.
- Travel up to 15%.
