Position Summary

detail-oriented Scaffold Estimator, on a contract basis, to join our team. The Scaffold Estimator
will be responsible for reviewing project drawings and specifications, determining scaffolding
requirements, preparing accurate material and labour estimates, and developing competitive
quotes for commercial and industrial projects.
The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of scaffolding systems, construction
practices, estimating principles, and job-site requirements, with the ability to communicate
effectively with customers, project managers, and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural, structural, mechanical, and project drawings to determine
scaffolding requirements.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs for scaffolding materials, equipment, labour, and
related services.
- Develop detailed estimates and quotations based on project scope, specifications,
drawings, and site conditions.
- Determine appropriate scaffold systems, layouts, access requirements, loading
requirements, and ancillary equipment.
- Calculate labour requirements, equipment usage, transportation, mobilization, and
demobilization costs.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and potential additional costs.
- Prepare clear and professional proposals for customers and general contractors.
- Review tender documents and identify discrepancies or missing information.
- Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings when required.
- Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and operations teams to ensure
estimates are practical and achievable.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and project databases.
- Assist with change orders, revisions, and pricing adjustments throughout the project.
- Track tender opportunities and follow up on submitted quotations as required.
- Ensure estimates comply with applicable safety requirements, company standards, and
project specifications.
- Maintain awareness of current material, labour, equipment, and market pricing.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years of experience in scaffolding, construction estimating, or a related field.
- A post-secondary diploma or certificate in construction engineering technology,
estimating, or a related discipline is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of scaffold systems, components, and construction methods.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Experience with quantity take-offs and construction estimating software is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to understand project scopes, contracts, specifications, and tender documents.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to attend project sites when required.
Working Conditions
This position is primarily office-based, with occasional travel to construction sites, project
meetings, and customer locations. Site visits may involve exposure to active construction
environments and require appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
