| What we are looking for
The Senior Product Analyst is a key functional expert responsible for the detailed, hands-on execution and advancement of product initiatives within the Product Management Group.
This role ensures that the high-level product vision is successfully translated into tangible, operational deliverables. The role takes on product ownership and analytical responsibilities while actively exploring and evaluating payment concepts to transform the payments ecosystem. This role requires a high degree of self-direction, strong ownership, and the ability to operate independently to drive product initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the pre-discovery and discovery phases of the product lifecycle, that is grounded in market research, internal, member, regulatory and stakeholder insights, pain points, and delivering compelling value propositions, for the market.
- Develop journey flows, analyze quantitative and qualitative data, develop business requirements.
- Provide first-level input into the product vision, roadmap, requirements and release plan;
- Build solid relationships with key stakeholders throughout Payments Canada, in particular, the Industry Relations, Communications, Delivery, Operations, and Risk groups to achieve successful outcomes throughout the product lifecycle.
- Manage internal and external interactions proactively by providing prompt responses to email inquiries, requests for meetings, and management of meetings in a timely manner.
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve processes and/or reporting.
- Provide regular status updates on ongoing files, action points, etc.
- Support ad-hoc tasks and projects as required.
Product Delivery & Process Optimization
- Develop user journey flows and review product designs for user experience, providing constructive feedback to development/engineering teams. Collaborate with engineering and operational teams to improve user flows by adjusting page flow, layouts, or information to meet business needs. Lead the development of user tips, tools, and guides to facilitate a positive user experience.
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve product management processes and/or reporting. Own medium-to-large risks, issues, actions, and decisions arising from meetings.
- Maintain, prioritize, and manage the product backlog, driving alignment and reconciliation with Delivery and Operations backlogs.
- Serve as the Product Single Point of Contact during the onboarding process.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings, including senior management and executive sessions (schedule management, agenda planning, material preparation, minute taking, and distribution). Assure structured and traceable document management, including providing file structure, tagging all externally shared documents, and managing/storing documents on the shared drive.
- Provide regular status updates on ongoing files, action points, and projects.
Product Strategy & Discovery
- Support the pre-discovery and discovery phases of the product lifecycle. This includes conducting market research, gathering internal, member, regulatory, and stakeholder insights to identify pain points, and developing compelling value propositions.
- Mastery in translating high-level strategic objectives and market insights into detailed business requirements, user journey flows, and functional specifications.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis to produce meaningful insights, presenting findings through comprehensive presentations, briefing notes, graphs, and other visuals to inform the product vision and roadmap.
- Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and maintain robust First Line of Defense 1LoD controls through active participation in and material preparation for Quarterly Product Reviews (QPRs).
- Take ownership of identifying, tracking, and resolving medium-to-large complex business issues, and proactively manage and mitigate risks, issues, actions, and decisions (RAID) arising from squad project deliverables.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain solid, ongoing relationships with key stakeholders across the organization (including Industry Relations, Communications, Delivery, Operations, and Risk groups) to achieve successful outcomes throughout the product lifecycle.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including members, regulators, and solution providers (vendors). Engage independently, and at times with senior representatives, with both working-level and executive internal/external stakeholders.
- Effectively communicate, both written and verbally, serving as a consultative expert to bridge and align cross-functional teams and vendor teams to ensure the successful delivery of defined outputs.
- Proactively manage internal and external interactions by providing prompt responses to email inquiries, requests for meetings, and managing meeting logistics in a timely and professional manner.
Operational Excellence
- Assist with establishing product management discipline by drafting appropriate processes, procedures, and workflows.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to new and junior team members.
Technical Competencies
- Experience in using various product management and delivery tooling;
- Excellent presentation development skills;
- Ability to develop user journey flows and write comprehensive descriptions of requirements;
- Business acumen related to the Financial Services and payments industry
- Highly capable technical acumen with hands-on experience in digital, payment, and financial technologies, including a strong understanding of 'headless' and service-oriented platforms.
- Experience directing and executing complex quantitative and qualitative data analysis to uncover performance drivers, translating complex data into high-impact visual reports, charts, and presentations for senior leadership.

| What you need to be successful
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics or related discipline;
- Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of work experience in product management, business analysis, or project management, preferably in the financial services environment. Payment knowledge is a significant asset
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience working within or adjacent to the payment’s ecosystem.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assimilate a wide range of input and rapidly assess complex situations. Critical reasoning and analytical thinking are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven experience presenting effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Experience in using various product management and delivery tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, etc.).
- Ability to develop user journey flows and write comprehensive descriptions of requirements.
- Business acumen related to the Financial Services and payments industry.
- High degree of self-direction and familiarity with management/committee processes. Ability to build effective and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Eligibility to successfully complete background checks that will be carried out by Payments Canada, including criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education checks.
| Salary range
Our target starting rate for this role is $100,300 with flexibility based on your experience and qualifications. The full salary range and benefits package are detailed below.
